Sometimes
the best way to move forward
is to stop


I started this earlier this year but never finished it (which is unusual for me, I never leave unfinished works lying around) until now. Oddly it became a rather personal piece for me, too.

While painting, I started pondering what I've been doing during this year and felt like I haven't really been moving in the direction I would had liked to...I have this feeling that I have to make progress and stop wasting time but I haven't really been able to do that. I want to get better and change but it's like I'm going around in circles.

So perhaps, I really should stop forcing myself, stop worrying about time. I should forget I'm supposed to be moving at all. And maybe then, I would be able to move on again.

So this is my last picture for the year 2009! I wanted to leave the year behind with a picture of someone smiling : )
